Elks Drug Awareness Program


u LAS VEGAS, NM, Lodge members distributed drug awareness crayons, toys, and coloring books to 12 children who attended the lodge’s annual picnic. Pictured working in her coloring book is NeNe Abeyta.


l CRESTWOOD, MO, Lodge hosted a demonstration by the St. Louis County Police Department of the ability of one of its K-9 units to detect drugs. The lodge had earlier donated $5,000 to help the department purchase and train the dog, whose name is Emma. Harrison, AR, Lodge donated a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant to the Harrison Police Department’s Police and Kids Youth Camp, which is a summer camp that helps children learn to be law- abiding citizens and live a healthy, drug-free life.


Eureka, CA, Lodge members partici- pated in the third annual Chicken Wing Fest, which is a community fund-raiser and awareness-raising event for Businesses Against Meth Use. Lodge members cooked for the event and donated more than $500 to Businesses Against Meth Use.

Aurora, CO, Lodge members, with the help of Elroy the Elk, staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the Aurora School District’s Kick Off the School Year event and gave 100 drug awareness backpacks and more than 1,000 bags of drug awareness information to students who attended the event.


Cape Coral, FL, Lodge members staffed a booth near the Cape Coral Bridge and gave drug awareness coloring books, bookmarks, ribbons, toy airplanes, decals, and pamphlets to nearly 120 children and teenagers.


Englewood, FL, Lodge members staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the Englewood Pioneer Days Parade and distributed 40 drug awareness information packets and about 150 red ribbons to people attending the parade.


Bicknell, IN, Lodge, with the help of a $1,000 ENF Promise Grant, held its annual Back to School Drug Aware- ness Swim Party at a local pool. Lodge members distributed drug awareness literature to the more than 250 students and parents who attended the party and treated them to lunch.
