Elks National Veterans Service Commission


Birmingham, AL, Lodge members visited the Birmingham VA Medical Center and treated 13 visually impaired veterans to bingo games.


Tucson East, AZ, Lodge donated $500 to the SouthWestern Blind Rehabilita- tion Center, a VA facility that treats visually impaired veterans from seven southwestern states, to help pay for day trips for the center’s patients.


Holiday Island, AR, Lodge held a Dinner for 31 local WW II veterans and their spouses or caregivers and honored them for their service to the country.


Fullerton, CA, Lodge members and ladies auxiliary members visited the Long Beach VA medical facility and distributed 26 handmade quilts and 26 handmade lap blankets to veterans at the facility.


Redding, CA, Lodge donated $500 each to two veterans memorial projects: the City of Anderson’s Veterans Walk of Honor and the Marine Corps League Gazebo and Bandstand in Redding.


San Jose, CA, Lodge donated $2,300 to the City of San Jose to help repair the San Jose Veterans Memorial, which had been vandalized.


Stamford, CT, Lodge donated $500 to the West Haven VA medical facility’s VA Voluntary Services.

Kingman, AZ, Lodge members visited the Gardens Rehab and Care Center and presented 18 lap robes to veterans and other senior citizens living at the center. Pictured with center employee Laurie Plummer is WW II veteran Celeste Musgrove, who served in the US Army Nurse Corps.


Englewood, FL, Lodge donated $450 to Southwest Florida Honor Flight, which flies WW II veterans to Wash- ington, DC, to visit the National WW II Memorial and other monuments.


Green Cove Springs, FL, Lodge donated $300 to PX Equine Enter- prises to support a Combat Veterans Therapy Program that provides equine therapy to veterans. The lodge also hosted a dinner for eight veterans being treated by the program.


Bowie, MD, Lodge donated $360 to a local Marine Corps League fund-raiser for Marines Helping Marines, which is a Marine Corps League program that assists wounded US Marine veterans and active-duty US Marines.


Glen Burnie, MD, Lodge hosted a presentation by US Marine Corps veteran and Wounded Warrior Project representative Glenn Kunkel, who discussed how the project helped him recover from a serious injury that he
