West Central District, IN, lodges donated nearly $2,700 to the Joplin, MO, Lodge to help victims of the tornado that devastated the town of Joplin. District lodges also made a $250 donation to the BPO Elks Disaster Relief Fund.


Kentucky Elks Association donated $5,000 each to Camp Quality Ken- tuckiana and Indian Summer Camp, which are camps for children with cancer, during the association’s midyear state convention. The association also donated $2,000 to the BPO Elks Disaster Relief Fund.


Washington-Rockville, MD, Lodge members staffed a booth at the nine- day 2011 Montgomery County Agricul- tural Fair, led 1,400 fairgoers in the


Pledge of Allegiance, and gave each person who recited the pledge a prize.


Chelmsford, MA, Lodge donated a “Welcome Home” banner worth $475 to the town of Chelmsford. The town will display the banner with the name of any serviceman or woman returning to the town from service overseas for two weeks after his or her return.


Lowell, MA, Lodge used a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant to donate $500 each to the Dracut Food Pantry and the Food Pantry of Merrimack Valley.


Albion, MI, Lodge donated $1,700 to the state major project, which provides monetary and other assistance to children with special needs, and $800 to the Elks National Foundation. Funds for the donations were raised at the lodge’s Paul and Russ Hrab Memorial Golf Outing fund-raiser.


Owatonna, MN, Lodge held a Rally for Rylie fund-raiser, which featured dinner, a raffle, and silent and live


auctions, to help the family of a six- year-old who is being treated for a kidney tumor. More than 250 people attended the event. In other news, lodge members


staffed a booth at the six-day Steele County Free Fair and raised $3,700 for lodge charities from food sales.


Gulfport, MS, Lodge used part of a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant to distribute more than 380 dictionaries to third-grade students at Bel-Aire, Crossroads, and Harrison Central Elementary Schools.


Derry-Salem, NH, Lodge donated the use of its lodge grounds for a fund- raiser for a lodge member who was being treated for cancer.


Portsmouth, NH, Lodge held its annual Soccer Shoot, in which seven children competed. Lodge members gave each competitor a certificate and awarded a trophy to each of the first- place winners. The first-place winners were Jordan Ovadek (U–8 Girls),
