Gardena, CA, Lodge held a Luau fund- raiser, which featured dinner, live musical entertainment, a dance performance, and raffles. About 300 people attended the event, which raised more than $2,000 for various local charities.
Hemet, CA, Lodge members donated $300 to the state major project, which provides in-home treatment to children with special needs.
Los Banos, CA, Lodge members treated more than 60 players and coaches of the Los Banos High School varsity and junior varsity football teams to dinner at the school prior to a Friday night game.
Sahuarita, AZ, Lodge, with the help of a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant, held a Baby Shower fund-raiser, which featured dinner and live musical entertainment, and gathered nearly 1,100 pounds of baby food, juice, diapers, wipes, and other items and $1,100 in donations and donated them to the Green Valley–Sahuarita Community Food Bank to be distributed to needy families. The lodge also donated $275 to the Sahuarita High School music department to thank the four students who provided entertainment during the dinner. Mission Viejo-Saddleback Valley, CA, Lodge Run-A-Ways RV Club, with the help of scouts from Girl Scout Troop No. 261, held its 31st annual Western Night Dinner-Dance fund- raiser, which more than 200 people attended. During the event, many guests were imprisoned in a mock jail house and made charitable contribu- tions in return for their release. The event raised about $3,800 for lodge charities and the state major project, which provides in-home therapy to children with special needs.
Orange, CA, Lodge members, ladies auxiliary members, and scouts from Boy Scout Troop No. 1475, Cub Scout Pack No. 1475, and Girl Scout Troop No. 11475, all of which are lodge- sponsored, staffed a booth at the three-day Orange International Street Fair and raised $2,700 for lodge charities from food and beverage sales, parking, and donations.
In other news, the lodge held a Pinewood Derby for Adults fund- raiser, which featured 22 competitors and which more than 140 people attended, and raised nearly $400 for the three scout troops that the lodge sponsors.
Tucson East, AZ, Lodge sponsored 12 children to attend the Arizona Elks Youth Camp, which is one of the state major projects, for a one-week session.
