little unsettling, but it needn’t be. I mean, let’s face it, we live in a world of change, so the secret is not to brace yourself for change but rather to loosen up and go with the flow. The key principles of change management are to keep a positive attitude, and to keep the spotlight on your short-term goals without losing sight of the longer term plan, ride ‘close herd’ on transition and change (I think that’s US speak for working together), beef up communication, and protect quality and customer service. ITM is preparing for its future as

Paul Tilstone, CEO, hands over the reins at the end of the year to Simone Buckley. They are ensuring an effective handover so that ITM can continue to deliver value to its members during this period of change. Additionally, the chairman’s term

is changing to coincide with the annual conference each year (see below for 2012 dates and location). This means that Nicola Lomas, director of corporate travel services for Omnicom, will officially take the chairman’s role on April 26th – at next year's conference in Manchester – from the current chairman, Jamie Hindhaugh, head of production 2012 for the BBC. will – ITM is working hard on a project to see us reach members and prospective members via LinkedIn, Twitter and You Tube. We are also working on delivering additional content across industry affairs, crisis management (following the launch of Phoenix), and meetings and events, building on the work to date since our association name change in 2009. You will see all of these areas explored further at the 2012 ITM Conference. With all this going on, and a growth in membership by over 800, Simone is joining ITM at an exciting time and we are very much looking forward to her taking us into the future. In the words of Dwight D. Eisenhower: ‘Things are more like they are now than they have ever been before’. Change can present all sorts of opportunities and as the advice goes, instead of hanging on to the past, let's grab hold of the future! ITM has announced the dates for

its next annual conference, which will take place on April 24th-26th at the Palace Hotel in Manchester. The event, entitled “Intelligence 2012”, will revert to the South of England in 2013 and is in partnership with Principal Hayley for both years. Registration opens this month, on November 14th.
