THE Mercer Street hotel in London's Covent Garden opened in October after a £15million refurbishment and conversion project from its previous guise as the Mountbatten. The new-look property has 137 guestrooms and is now part of the Radisson Edwardian group. It is located in the Seven Dials Village at the heart of Covent Garden. There is Apple TV technology in
every guestroom, free wifi internet access and other benefits such as free printing. There are six meeting rooms with capacity ranging from six to 50, and all are equipped with high definition touch-screen technology. There are eight suites with

• OCTOBER saw the re-opening of the Beijing Shangri-La’s Kerry Centre Hotel as the city’s first Kerry-branded property, offering 486 rooms and suites. The Kerry brand offers five-star service but with a more relaxed and informal ambience. The full makeover will be completed by March 2012. Facilities include complimentary wifi access throughout the hotel's public areas, plus the Horizon Club, a 24/7 business centre and a variety of meeting rooms. Other amenities include a minibar for soft drinks, two indoor tennis courts, and an Olympic-size swimming pool.

• THE Intercontinental Hotels Group is targeting Russia and the Common- wealth of Independent States (CIS) for an expansion drive that will see its presence in the region grow to 100 hotels by 2020, from its existing portfolio of 16. The Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands are already well established in Moscow and St Petersburg, while November sees the return of the Intercontinental brand to Russia when the 203-room Moscow Tverskaya hotel opens.
