Our pick of the most exciting, most hyped and most wanted tablets, smartphones, cameras and games consoles that are set to get gadget lovers’ pulses racing over the next few months

Amazon Kindle Fire

The biggest name in e-book readers has turned its attention to the tablet market and the

result is the Kindle Fire. Using the same simple tactic it used with the original Kindle, Amazon aims to price the iPad and other Android tablets out of the market. The Kindle Fire is smaller than most,

with a 7in screen. It’s made of plastic too, as opposed to the aluminium back of the iPad. Otherwise, the Fire is packed with all the right tech to make for a speedy tablet. It’ll also be much lighter than the original Kindle, making it easier to hold than an iPad. The Fire runs a customised version of Android with access to Amazon’s app, music and book stores. With the price likely to be less than £200, it’s sure to be the Android tablet to beat. US buyers can grab one from 15 November, although UK consumerrs will have to wait until early 2012.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Collaboration between Samsung and Google has produced the Galaxy Nexus smartphone, which

is the fi rst to run the latest and greatest version of Android, which is codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich.

The new phone has a curved Gorilla glass screen, which will have an incredibly sharp 4.7in Super AMOLED Plus HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It will be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of in-built storage and a 5-megapixel camera capable of capturing Full HD video. Expected to be available before the end of 2012, this is the best reason to hold off buying an iPhone 4S and likely to be free on top end contracts.
