3D Design & BIM Technology


WSP is an industry leader in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology to help deliver effective and efficient designs.


BIM provides earlier and more accurate visualisations of a design. All our Civil and Structural T&D projects are delivered using WSP’s chosen BIM platform – AutoDesk Revit. This is leading-edge within the T&D sector and the application of this technology provides:


ƒƒ 3D spatial co-ordination with electrical equipment and cables


ƒƒ 3D spatial co-ordination with overall site constraints


ƒƒ Client and end client design visualisations


We have also developed full 3D site models incorporating results of Ground Penetrating radar to accurately position existing underground cables and structures. This can be used to review the impact of proposed designs on existing operations and identify potential hazards and, where risks cannot be eliminated by design, assist in developing safe methods of working before site activities begin.

Point Comm, Inc. is our trusted strategic partner, bringing specialist experience in the design, supervision and commissioning of high voltage electrical equipment in substations and power plants.


Established in 1996 in Canada, Point Comm has extensive international experience in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Canada. They work with major manufacturers and continue to explore new design and engineering tools in order to successfully cater to our clients’ needs.
