A platform for debate


The Whither Warfare series of conferences has shown that open and honest discussion is often just the impetus required to tackle some of the key issues facing the UK’s defence community


Warfare is constantly evolving. Understanding the trends in both threats and effective responses is crucial if nations are to achieve security and stability with armed forces that face constant political, organisational and financial pressures. The Whither Warfare series of seminars – held twice a year – aims to shed some light on the trends and challenges encountered by soldiers and decision-makers in the UK defence community.


Although sponsored and hosted by the General Dynamics UK Research Foundation, the Whither Warfare conferences are not about presenting a single vision of the issues, but about encouraging analysis, debate and reflection from which new perspectives can emerge. Each event is not a briefing but an environment for fostering new ideas.
