an Juan Capistrano is a general law city, governed by five elected, part-time City Council members who
direct a city manager. Te city has about 100 full-time employees and a general fund budget around $21 million. Te Orange County Sheriff ’s
Department provides police ser- vices to the city under a contract with the county, while the city is a part of a joint-powers agreement that manages the Orange County Fire Authority. Te city provides water service. Another contract with the county provides for the San Juan Capistrano Regional Library, which was designed by Michael Graves. Te San Juan Capistrano City Council meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 32400 Paseo Adelanto. Te current Mayor is Sam
Allevato (term expires 2012), the council includes Laura Freese (term expires 2012), Larry Kramer (term expires 2014), Derek Reeve (term expires 2014) and John Taylor (term expires 2014). Te city does not have term limits. See
