talking shop ON LOCATION THAILAND On location in... Centara Hotels & Resorts hosted
a three-centre Thai fam trip this summer, visiting Trat, Koh Chang and Bangkok, with EVA Air and Bangkok Airways. In Bangkok the group visited the Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), cruised the Chao Phraya River and watched a cultural show at the Ratchada Grand Theatre in Bangkok, in-between hotel inspections of course! Out of the city on Koh Chang, or Elephant Island, activities included elephant trekking as well as a visit to the biggest waterfall on the island Khlong Plu, the Klong Prao Temple and meeting a local family who work in the rubber industry. Across from Koh Chang on the mainland is Trat, where the group enjoyed the Centara Chaan Talay Resort. Angela Yeung from Eastravel had
visted Thailand before but never Trat, an up-and-coming destination on the mainland which is often used as a transit point to nearby Cambodia. She described its location as "perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful holiday." But the highlight of her trip was the elephant trekking.

TRAT Recommendations...
• "The Centara Chaan Talay Resort was amazing. The service provided was first class, and Caroline (the general manager) and her team made us all feel very welcome. Rooms were excellent and the food was amazing, especially the mango sticky rice dessert! The beach is stunning and is really secluded and safe for families; total paradise."

Bangkok twins with Bali It was a double bill for the latest Anand Collection fam trip, which took in Thai capital Bangkok as well as Bali. Hosted by the Anand Collection and
Thai Airways, the itinerary included two nights at Furama Silom, a new four- star hotel in Bangkok’s Silom Road. Here, Destination Asia hosted a Bangkok tour including Wat Po, the Supatra River House Restaurant and a river cruise. In Bali, the agents stayed a night at Furama Ubud Villas and Destination Asia put together an itinerary including the Monkey Forest and lunch overlooking Mount Batur, a spectacular active volcano. Participants were from Thomson, THG Holidays, Elegant Resorts, Travel 2, Luxury Trips, Best at Travel and Thai Airways.
This June, Tourism KwaZulu- Natal took six Travel Counsellors on a fam trip to the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The group moved in a circular itinerary from Durban, visiting the Drakensberg Mountains, the Battlefields at Rourke's Drift and Isandlwana and a private game lodge for a ‘big-five’ game viewing. Travel Counsellor Jan Ledger commented: “I found it difficult to believe I was in Africa sometimes, when the scenery was reminiscent of New England! But as we continued our journey a real sense of Africa began to sink in with rondavel huts, villages and vast scenery. "People have asked me is 'is it safe?'
I would have been happy to wander Durban's Victoria Market and I'd have no problem with a fly-drive. The quality and value of the food and drink was excellent and all the people we met were friendly, welcoming and very helpful." Win a trip to KwaZulu-Natal on
