Girl Power
For the first time in history, men are in the minority at colleges and universities around the country. The male student population now makes up only 40%, while women now hold the majority at 60%. In addition, more women are holding higher honors at colleges and universities with 70% of valedictorians and honor roll students being female. In the last 10 years alone, 2 million more women than men graduated from college.

Rural Divorce
Forty years ago the divorce rate in the United States was highest and most concentrated in cities and metro areas. Now, rural Americans are just as likely to divorce as those living in urban or suburban areas. In 1980, there were 11 million divorced couples living in rural America. By 2009, that number had increased significantly to 26 million.

Lowering Age Limit
More and more young users are logging on to social media sites. Though the age limit for social media sites like Facebook is 13 and older, nearly half of all 12-year-olds in the U.S. are using the site. Sixty-four percent of 13-year-olds have active Facebook profiles while some 82% of 14-to 17-year-olds daily access the site.

A Place to Lay Your Head
In the last year, a record 113,553 people slept in the homeless shelters of New York City. Of this number some 50,000 were children. As our Send North America efforts move forward, think about how your church can get involved to serve those in need in areas like New York City and the Northeast.
