Equine Preferences

Surrey is the most popular region for equestrian properties, with nearly three in ten Hamptons International purchases falling in this region. This is followed by West Sussex with 21 percent, Hampshire with 12 percent and Gloucestershire with just over 10 percent.

But what makes the perfect equine property? Of course the answer to this is subjective and entirely personal. Further, it can also be influenced by the planned equestrian use of the property sought. Needs can range widely and the specialist requirements of these properties has made it important that the correct advice is provided. We have created three broad categories to profile the discerning requirements of our clients:

Professional Equestrian Property: Where use of the equestrian facility is an income-producing business or profession.

Equestrian Lifestyle Property: Where horses are a central part of everyday life.

Ancillary Equestrian Property: Horses and ponies are a desirable part of the overall countryside experience, but complement a broader range of interest and property needs.

Professional Equestrian Property

There are professional equestrian properties of all shapes and sizes right across the UK. In the South of England, local hotspots for professional horsemen and women include Midhurst, the home of English Polo and Lambourn, which is the home of National Hunt racing in the UK. Lambourn is second only to Newmarket for the concentration of racing stables; it is estimated that there are around 1,500 horses at 40 different stables in the ‘Valley of the Racehorse’
