Brownfield Project of the Year 2011, uS We had a team onsite around the clock on the $435m construction of the US Coast Guard HQ in Washington D.C. Our work, together with that of the wider project team, won the prestigious James D. P. Farrell Brownfield Project of the Year Award.


national Framework for Contaminated land, South Africa The Department of Environmental Affairs wanted a consistent approach for the assessment of contaminated land and asked us to produce the guidelines and standards for the management and remediation of contaminated land.


europe’s tallest building, london The Shard in london will be Europe’s tallest building when completed in 2012. Our geotechnical team has been involved from the initial conceptual design stages, designing ground investigations and the substructure. WSP is also providing structural and fire engineering, acoustics, traffic and transportation and drainage advice.


220 metres into the Qatar skyline We provided geotechnical design and supervision for the International Bank of Qatar’s 220m tall tower in Doha. We undertook full design works and after completion provided contractor design and pile test data reviews.


4 million tonnes of material, new South Wales We are facilitating the remediation and redevelopment of the 190ha Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter in New South Wales, Australia. Due to the volume of contaminated materials the remediaton solution includes a unique onsite containment cell.


Award winning geotechnical solution, Florida Our use of geotextile reinforcement during capping of a waste lagoon at the Coronet Superfund Site in Plant City, Florida won the Award of Excellence from the Industrial Fabrics Association International.
