letters A real eye-opener

Your advice in Eat to beat tiredness (October) couldn’t have come at a better time. I don’t know whether it was the change of seasons, but I found I was really struggling to keep my energy levels up, despite several cups of coffee a day. Now I make sure my lunch includes wholegrains and fresh fruit and veg. I drink more water and I feel much more alert. Best of all, I didn’t have to give up my chocolate treat, just swapped it for the dark version. Result! Kate Davies, Marple

Water great mag!

I recently went on a P&O cruise from Southampton and picked up a copy of the August edition of Candis to take on the ship with me. I must say it was such a fabulous read throughout my holiday. Its compact size made it convenient for me to keep it in my bag all day, pulling it out to read when I was sitting on deck, in one of the lounges or just relaxing in the cabin. I could not believe the selection of different topics and features that were covered and I felt the whole publication was excellent. Adele Conway, Pinner

Hair-raising experience

Look ten years younger? Yes please! I have long been stuck in a bad hair rut, so October’s hair special came as a welcome remedy for my salt ‘n’ pepper mop! It was so refreshing to read that chic and stylish hair can still be achieved as we age, and the tips and tricks have given me the courage to ‘go for the chop’ and to throw caution to the wind by investing in some aptly placed lowlights. Although my friends and family had not criticised my slightly dishevelled hairstyle before, I’m delighted they now shower me with compliments! Thanks for helping revitalise my look. Never mind winding back the clock – my hair looks a whole lot better now than it did ten years ago! Genevieve Parker, Surrey
