Cancer Research UK What they do: Save lives by
supporting research, providing information for patients, families and health experts, and working to keep cancer at the top of the health agenda. Location: National
FUNDRAISING
TARGET: £20,000
Candis Big Give project: To help fund the work of a leading cancer specialist and his team, who are developing new ways of producing images of brain tumours in children to monitor the impact of treatment more effectively and predict how a tumour will respond to particular drugs.
Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID)
What they do: Support families and help prevent unexpected infant death through research. Location: National
FUNDRAISING TARGET: £124,000
Candis Big Give project: To fund four researchers at Great Ormond Street Hospital, who will study tissue samples to try and identify babies who died as the result of infection. If successful, a cheap and fast post- mortem test could be developed so more families can find out why their baby died.
Arthritis Research UK What they do: Aim to reduce
the pain and disability caused by arthritis by funding research, providing information and
campaigning for better support and treatment.
Location: National
Candis Big Give project: To fund all the laboratory supplies and MRI scans
FUNDRAISING
TARGET: £60,000
that researchers at the Arthritis Research Pain Centre need for one year, to help them in their quest to develop new pain relief treatments for people with debilitating arthritis.
