When they return home, they will be finishing preparations for the 2011 World Championships to be held in Shanghai, China in July. Following that, the team will be busy preparing for the 2011 Pan American Games to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico in October. Dear USA Synchro Family!
As the competitive USA Synchro season winds down,
we look forward to our largest competition of the year, the 2011 esynchro US Age Group Championships. One thousand athletes will gather in Federal Way, Washington representing clubs from all over the country and performing routines that have been practiced over months of training. Each of these athletes has demonstrated perseverance and dedication to achieve this opportunity to compete at a national level. I would like to congratulate these athletes on the accomplishment of qualifying for this national competition and wish them the best of luck in every performance. Just one week later, the 2011 US Open will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii. In the past several years, the US Open has attracted international competitors and once again we look forward to hosting an international field. Congratulations
to Chris Carver, winner of
this year’s Paragon Award at the International Swimming Hall of Fame ceremonies. The Paragon Award is presented to one person each year in each of the aquatic disciplines for outstanding contributions to their sport. Re Calcaterra was honored posthumously as a Pioneer in synchronized swimming. She dedicated much of her life to the advancement of the sport in the USA and around the world. Our National Team Program is busy with multiple teams

Pleasant Hill, California. The Junior team will represent the United States at the UANA Championships in Montreal, Quebec in August. This is a competition of the countries of North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean island nations. The Nominating Committee is currently seeking qualified individuals to run for four Vice President positions on the Board of Directors: Treasurer, Marketing and Memberships, Competitive Operations, and Olympic International. Following the changes made in January to the structure of
the Board of Directors, the Board agreed to fill the Treasurer position until convention. Welcome to Nancy Rosengard! The Board opted to leave the Olympic International Vice President position open. Thank you to Betty Hazle for continuing to perform the necessary tasks of the international arena. In addition, Betty is busy acting as Chef de Mission along with Penny Taylor from USA Swimming for the US Team competing at the World Championships in all of the aquatic disciplines in Shanghai in July. We have formed an Ethics Committee of experts from outside the sport to handle any grievances within the sport. In addition, Kaycee Wiita is leading a Fundraising Task Force to help financially support all of the programs in USA Synchro. Thanks for all of your support and efforts to
make USA Synchro the best sport organization in the world.
All the Best,
Duke Zielinski, President, USA Synchro
