German Open the
Bonn / March 11-13, 2011 The First competition for Team One was the 2011 German Open held March 11th
-13th in Bonn. Megan Hansley, Mary Killman and Lyssa Wallace represented the United States. This was the first competition to debut the two new Duet programs created by both head coach Mayuko Fujiki and Former World Champion Virginie Dedieu. Also part of the delegation were judges Betty Hazle and Linda Loehndorf and National Team Director, Sandra Mahoney It was a tough competition with over 20 federations represented including
Canada, China and Japan. The new programs were very well received by the judges. “It was very important to attend this competition to see where we stand and to continue to refine the programs as we prepare for the World Championships and Pan American Games,” said coach Fujiki. In the technical program Killman and Wallace had a strong performance. “It is
always great to get that first competition under your belt and build your confidence” said Wallace. “To have such a strong performance in the Technical swim was one of our goals.” The duet finished 5th in the technical program. The free program debuted new choreography for team USA with a strong

emphasis on adding difficulty and speed to the programs. The pair of Hansley and Killman had two very strong performances ending up 6th in the 100% free final. “We know what we have to focus on and continue to build our endurance so we can finish strong” said Killman. “We will be ready to take on the World come July.” n
