Summer Activity on the Central State Campus

The activity on the Central State University campus is vigorous this summer. Students are taking classes and summer camps are providing enrichment opportunities for hundreds.

Project (TCP), and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) High Achievers Summer Bridge Program for STEM majors.

These robust numbers represent an increase of 39% in the number of summer school students from Summer A 2010 and a 54% increase over Summer A 2009.

The growth in summer enrollment is impressive and is reflective of na- tional trends. Students are working to decrease the amount of time it takes to complete a degree.

More than 700 students are enrolled in summer school while others are taking part in the Institute for Urban Education’s Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp, Early Start Summer Bridge, Summer Transportation Institute, Technology Corridor

Additionally, we can attribute these increases to expanded course offerings on the Central State University main and Dayton cam- puses, the avail- ability of Summer Pell Grants and Housing Scholar- ships as well as an increased campus marketing effort. Campus admission staff,

faculty and the campus communi- ty worked to make summer 2011 a success.

The second half of the summer program is also showing an increase. We are seeing a 48% increase from Summer B 2010 and an 88% increase over Summer B 2009. These projections could increase as classes for Summer B are finalized in July.
