CSU Alumni part of Oprah Winfrey “Freedom Riders” show
In one of her farewell episodes Oprah Winfrey honored American heroes. The inspiring history and lasting stories of American Freedom Riders were featured in early May.
In the audience were two “Freedom Riders” and Central State University Alumni — David and Winonah Myers, who met at Central State University and married in April of 1962.
David worked as a photographer for several years — first at Central State University, then for newspapers in Xenia, OH and Waterloo, IA.
Winonah spent most of her career working with handicapped adolescents and adults at a number of institutions in Ohio including a 22-year career with the Montgomery County Board of Mental Retardation.
The couple now lives in Ellenton, Florida.
