FINISHING EQUIPMENT
Going the distance P
ost recession, every business in Britain has been forced to review the expenditure and environmental impact of its operations. The sign making industry is no exception.
Until recently, it was widely regarded as good economics and keen business sense to forgo expensive repair bills in favour of replacing equipment with cheap and cheerful imports. These days however, the need to consider both cost and climate has prompted a return to favour for older machinery that might have otherwise been sent to the scrapheap at the first sign of trouble.
Models from industry stalwarts such as Sallmetal, Ademco, Omma and Image are
experiencing a renaissance and with regular servicing, repairs and refurbishment, the extended lifespan of these robust, high specification machines is widely considered to deliver the best possible return on investment.
Still going strong
The team at Laaco Laminates supports this view. Back in the mid eighties, when Laaco first established its service and repair business, lamination machines were built like tanks - and nearly as heavy! Proof of this is that many of these machines are still going strong, and have long outlived their newer Chinese and Far Eastern ‘replacements’.
Over time, some of the original manufacturers
Simon Dobson of Laaco Laminates explains how regular TLC can extend the long years of service delivered by the classic Marques of the laminating machine industry.
have become victims of sales and mergers but their history, and uncontested expertise, lives on. With tender loving care – and the occasional kiss of life from Laaco’s experienced team of engineers – these well built machines are still capable of delivering years of good and loyal service.
The older models continue to deliver and delight. One client credits his Ademco Laminator with returning 100’s of 1000’s of pounds worth of revenue during its lifetime. It’s just had a light service with no major faults recorded and is still going strong. He is one of many very satisfied owners who have reaped the long term rewards gained through regular maintenance.
