NXCAM This format records to Memory Stick Pro Duo flash memory or SDHC memory. The range includes the new E-mount Super 35mm NEX-FS100 and the rain and dust proof HXR-NX70E, which join the HXR-NX5E – launched earlier this year.


HDV The HDV format is Sony’s entry-level tape-based format. HDV cameras, including the HVR-Z5E and the HVR-Z7E, are hybrid models with the ability to record to both HDV cassette tape and memory cards.


XDCAM EX XDCAMEX cameras record onto high quality SxS Pro cards or more affordable SxS-1 cards. The range includes the new PMW-F3, the PMW-EX1R and PMW-EX3 and fully shoulder-mounted PMW-350.

XDCAM HD422 XDCAMHD422 models such as the PDW-700 and PDW-F800 store file-based rushes on robust, inexpensive high capacity Professional Discs. The range now also includes the solid state XDCAM HD422 50Mb/s shoulder-mounted PMW-500.


HDCAM The long-standing HD tape format HDCAM has been the format of choice for dramas and high- end docs for years. The flagship HDCAM model, the F900R, has captured the images for some of the best looking TV of the last few years.


HDCAM SR HDCAM SR is the top-end mastering format used by Sony’s SRW-9000 and SRW- 9000PL cameras. It provides the ultimate picture quality for a tape-based recording system, with ultra-low noise.
