Pediatrician provides close-to-home care for both complex and everyday needs

Jeff Goza, MD

As a neonatal intensive care unit nurse at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Michelle Eversdyk of West Bend understands the importance of high-quality pediatric care. She found that quality for her own four children right here in West Bend with Froedtert Health Medical Group pediatrician Jeff Goza, MD.

Te Eversdyk family first met Dr. Goza last summer, after Michelle and Donald’s twin boys Masyn and Nolyn were born prematurely in April 2010 at just under 29 weeks. While Masyn is relatively healthy, Nolyn has had multiple health issues, primarily with his lungs, and he has had to be hospitalized several times during his first year of life.

“When the boys first came home, I wanted a doctor for them with whom I could have a good relationship,” says Michelle. “I met Dr. Goza and decided he was the right fit.”

While Nolyn sometimes needs to see specialists at Children’s Hospital, Michelle likes the fact that she can take him to Dr. Goza for much of his care. “It’s convenient,” she said. “I have four children and it’s hard to schedule all those appointments and wait in clinics with other kids who are potentially sick. It’s

nice that I have somebody right here in town who will return my call the same day.”

Dr. Goza said he and other pediatricians in the group know families don’t always want to drive 45 minutes to Children’s Hospital, so they take care of a large range of problems, including hypothyroidism, asthma and allergies.

“We try to make valuable use of parents’ time so they don’t have to drive down to the specialty hospital for everything,” Dr. Goza said. “Tat said, we know our limitations, too, and we will tell a family when we feel additional resources at the specialty hospital are needed to treat a child.”

Pediatricians are conveniently located at West Bend Clinic – South, adjacent to Froedtert Health St. Joseph’s Hospital, making it easy for them to see newborns and young patients in the hospital.

“I’m very fortunate that I’ve been able to find such good care close to home,” Michelle said.
