Personalized Care During Labor Te New Life Center provides many options for each woman's labor experience. A whirlpool tub is available in each room to help ease labor pains, and the center can provide birthing balls upon request. For mothers who want a natural birth with few or no painkillers, nurses are there to support them.

“Te nurses are really great about being at the bedside with their patients. Tey educate mothers about options that are available to cope with labor, and are a positive support throughout the labor experience,” Rebecca said.

Te New Life Center offers laboring moms a “walking epidural,” during which a woman can receive pain medication while comfortably walking around with a device placed on her midsection to monitor the baby’s heartbeat and her contractions. “Te walking epidural works really well – women don’t have to be confined to their beds,” Jen said. “Walking around can speed up labor.”

Warm, Caring Staff For many patients, the best part of the New Life Center is the staff. “Te nursing staff love their jobs, and that really shows with the patient care we provide,” Jen said. “A lot of nurses have

been here long enough that patients are seeing the same faces with their second and third babies.”

Froedtert Health Medical Group obstetricians/gynecologists (OB/GYNs), pediatricians and midwives at Froedtert

Health West Bend Clinic – South, connected to the hospital, are close by their patients in the New Life Center. “We’re just a few steps away from the delivery room,” said Froedtert Health Medical Group OB/GYN Rory Miranda, MD, one of five OB/GYNs. (Several Froedtert Health Medical Group family medicine physicians also deliver babies at the New Life Center.) “Tat means we can be with a laboring patient within minutes. Our patients like that because we are able to give such personalized care.”

Te New Life Center’s small, intimate atmosphere means that nurses, midwives and doctors are accustomed to working with each other. “Te nurses know us very well and know how we manage patients,” said Miranda. “Ultimately, the patients are the ones who benefit from such good working relationships.”
