JOHN HORNBY Skewes & Co has appointed Kyoritsu Corporation as the exclusive Japanese distributor for its Vintage and Fret-King guitar brands. Kyoritsu is one of


Japan’s leading distributors of musical instruments and equipment. The firm has a nationwide sales office network with more than 40 sales representatives and a marketing and administration operation at its head office in Nagoya. The firm will exclusively distribute JHS’ Vintage and Fret-King lines in Japan, including the groundbreaking Fret-King Super-matic self-tuning electric guitar. Hideki Kaji, director of

THE MIA has launched its official website for the annual industry awards, which gives all details of the 2011 event and opens up the public voting. The site, which is found at www.miamusicawards.co.uk, has full details about the event, sponsors, hotels, nominations and voting procedures. All of the retailer awards are now self-

nominated, open to all shops and voted on by the public through a number of connected sites, including Classic FM, FutureMusic, Computer Music, Guitarist and Guitar Techniques. New categories include a


Best Classical Music Instrument Shop award (also voted for by the public); a NAMM-sponsored Music Maker award (which is self- nominated), plus Classical and Rock instrument awards.


In addition, MI Pro has


sponsored a new Twitter Wall which will include updates on the awards and will be visible on the night. The awards take place on Wednesday November 30th at the Marriot Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London, with all proceeds going to Music For All. Table prices have been held for the third year in a row, with an earlybird price of £150 or £1350 for a table of ten.
