5 of the best Eating Out 3 La Buvette,
Richmond The walled courtyard
garden of La Buvette is a hidden gem in Richmond town centre, popular with regulars in the summer. You dine surrounded by fl owers and herbs, which are cared for by the chefs and used in the kitchen. The restaurant serves fresh French food, all made on the premises. The entire main menu changes every month, depending on what’s in season. The ‘bistro’ menu hasn’t changed since La Buvette opened nine years ago and off ers favourites such as chargrilled onglet steak with chops and salad and crème brûlée. Cambio at the Castle, Guildford
The newly refurbished terrace at Cambio at the Castle overlooks the beautiful gardens of Guildford Castle, thought to have been built soon after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Chef Chris Connor is committed to local produce and sources his meat and vegetables from farms less than 30 miles away. Where an authentic Italian fl avour is required, ingredients are imported from Turin’s world-famous food market. The new management team, who took over earlier this year, have worked to create a warm atmosphere, decorating the restaurant’s walls with bespoke photography and local artwork.
