to buy the business but had to lease the premises – a big business that dealt in millions. He roped-in 2 of his brothers who made up the balance of the capital. T ey put every cent they had into the business. It was do or bust! Toby and his brothers put their

heart and soul into their business and in less than 4 years, they made enough money to buy the premises! T en of course, more siblings wanted in on the business, but that was fi ne because there was a boom and more than enough for everyone. By and by, every partner owned a handsome house, 2 luxury cars and went on lots of holidays abroad. T e more they made, the more they had; the more they had, the more they were committed to paying. All families had maids, some more than one. All the wives could aff ord designer clothes, accessories and jewellery. Bankers revelled in Toby, tripping

over each other to try to get his account. He and his wife were the cream of society – always popular, they had a busy social life and travelled twice a year on family holidays – once in winter and once in summer. As a birthday present, Toby once bought his wife a double piece of land – each big enough to build a detached bungalow; and a BMW 7 series the following year. Her monthly allowance was ten thousand ringgit – cash! Clean – for spending anyway she wanted, it wasn’t even for paying utilities. Back then, about 15 years ago, that was a lot of money! T ey invested in and owned several

properties and sent their children for tertiary education in the best institutions overseas. T ey built a huge 3-storey house that had black granite fl oors, warm timber ceilings, 13 air conditioners and installed master

phones in every room because the roar of the 2 waterfalls in the gardens prevented anyone from hearing anyone else from room to room! To keep this house in tip top condition and cleanliness, they employed 2 live-in maids, a part-time maid and a gardener. Shortly after their house was ready, Toby won the local lotteries thrice! In 2 months, he struck the 2nd, 1st and 3rd price respectively! Business was good and Toby had almost no obstacles in his path. He was well respected and remained simple and humble which made him a popular employer. At the height of his success, he employed about 250 staff and treated them to company dinners twice a year. T is pure bliss went on for nearly

20 years and not for a moment did it occur to them that their business would go bust, but bust it did go… Gradually, over a period of time

round about the beginning of the year 2004 when Period 7 changed to Period 8, things started to go awry and slowly, everything disintegrated over a period of about 4 years. It all started with an acquisition by the state government for part of the land where their business property was – to widen the highway in front and….TO BUILD A HUGE FLY-OVER! Toby’s business property was huge.

Besides the buildings, they had more than 25 acres of land. A huge fl y-over was built overlooking this land with the curve CUT TING- INTO the property like a giant round blade! I told Toby back then to quickly plant plenty of trees to block this potent poison arrow and he did.

He planted lots of trees BUT small saplings! Small, skinny baby trees!!! From then on, it was downhill

all the way. Toby met with a lot of challenges. For one he couldn’t collect payment so that propelled cash-fl ow problems. For a business that big, cash fl ow problems propelled big problems. Some of his siblings started to cultivate bad attitudes like not bothering to observe speed limits because the company would pay for their speed fi nes, another became greedy and lazy. He worked less hours but claimed overtime pay etc etc. In other words, the bad feng shui aff ected everybody. Eventually Toby had to sell their business for a fraction of what it was worth, but at least he could walk away before he lost it all. He was such a positive-minded bloke. He still thought himself lucky, as by then, his kids had graduated and he did not have to stop their education half way. For this he was grateful, but by this time, he had racked up a lot of huge debts due to the big commitments he had before. Toby and his wife sold all their

properties including their huge 3-storey bungalow to repay their debts. T ey bought a tiny 2-bedroom apartment and he started a small trading business whilst she went back to work – the fi rst time she had to work seriously for money! T ey scraped together what they could spare to better their feng shui, spending the last of their money on cures and remedies to correct their home feng shui in order to better their life. T ey met Lillian Too and casually asked her for some advice and followed it. Today,

although not where they were before
