NEXT GET PROTECTION FROM WANDERING SPIRITS… Being safe on the road is not just about good car maintenance and good driving. Accidents are also caused by wandering spirits, especially when you drive at nights. Tere are always stretches of roads that are more prone to supernatural disturbances and these are usually cross roads where many accidents have taken place in the past. Go slow when you drive past such roads. If you sense an eerie presence, recite the mantra OM MANI PADME HUM. Likewise, if you smell a sickeningly sweet smell, if you see anyone on the road, ignore the person. One way of telling if it is a ghost is to see if its feet are on the ground. Ghosts usually float!
Align Your Wheels
Wheel alignment must be checked from time to time, mainly when you change tyres or when you notice your car does not go in a straight line anymore. When aligning your wheels, opt for manufacturer settings as they have been tested extensively. From my experience, you should go to an alignment shop where the machines have the manufacturer’s settings installed.
Check Your Brakes Brakes must be checked to regularly for wear. Usually they give out a metallic rubbing sound when they run out. They will still work, but this causes damage to the brake disc. Check the brake fluid levels; if the fluid is cloudy, replace it, as it means water has seeped into the braking system. When water is present, it causes the brake cylinders to rust, resulting in leaks in the system and unpredictable braking ability. A rule of thumb is to replace your brake fluid every 1-2 years. Te engine should also be serviced at the recommended intervals.
Te BEST way to stay protected is to have protective amulets in the car and wear protection on your body. Tese have the power to subdue and appease whatever wandering spirits are around and convinces them to leave you alone. Buddhist amulets have long been known to protect car passengers from being harmed in accidents. Tere are many stories from people wearing such amulets who are involved in accidents where the vehicle is a mangled mess, yet they walk away totally unscathed; shaken but not hurt at all and with no bloodshed. Others in the accident vehicle may be seriously injured or even killed, but they stay safe protected by the mantras in the amulet. Sometimes you avoid the accident because the amulet you are wearing causes you to be just a little late or early. Amulets come in many forms; some are made as medallions, some printed and stuck to car windows. Whatever form they take, they bring you and your family invaluable protection. As a Buddhist, I carry several Buddhist amulets that contain images of special symbols, mantras and Deities that have been extensively blessed and consecrated by High Lamas. For those of you who are not Buddhist like me, you can
carry protective amulets of your own religion or culture. In addition to the Buddhist amulets, I have peacock feathers at the back of my car to ward off accidents. I also have a rhino and elephant hanging made of blue sodalite to protect against accidents and burglary to the car and it doubles as a good fortune amulet, helping me get a parking space whenever I give the hanging a hard rub, while thinking of the general area where I want to get a parking spot! Don’t discount these amulets as they have saved me
Avoid Driver Error Take simple precautions. Stay alert when driving. If you are feeling tired, stop and have a cup of coffee before continuing. Do not make big road trips during stormy weather when visibility is reduced and roads get slippery. If you need to drive in the rain, drive at half your normal speed. Always drive sensibly and defensively. It only takes 2 reckless drivers to meet to can cause a really bad accident.

more than once. Trust me, I know. Before I started wearing and placing amulets in my car, I had three, yes THREE different cars stolen. Tree times unlucky! Since then I have made very sure to keep good luck and good feng shui on my side with the use of amulets. Touch wood, and keeping fingers and toes crossed, things have been good since then. Doing all the above have helped me avoid accidents, and when I did have an accident, it was the day I forgot to bring my amulets along and had my car amulets removed for replacement. I am now more careful than ever and it is this that has inspired me to write this piece. I hope sharing my experiences here will keep you safe while driving.
