life with Lillian

I was totally charmed by this little tableau showing a dragon playing with three kids. Incredible piece of decorative art in front of a ground floor apartment.

HANGING OUT IN SILICON VALLEY

SOAKING IN THE SPECIAL MAGIC OF PALO ALTO’S CREATIVE ENERGY

In May I was in California again, my third trip in 2011 and this time the weather was kinder, being less wet

and with the sun more visible, but still cold and windy. But there is a special energy to this part of America,

and I really wallowed in it and enjoyed to the fullest… and in a week when Thundering Tornadoes brought

destruction elsewhere in the States, when a powerful international financier gets arrested for attempted rape in New York, and when the scandal breaks

around former CALIFORNIA Governor, TERMINATOR star Arnold Schwarzenegger - I waltz through the fabulous restaurants of one of the richest locations of

America and go shopping at amazing Outlet Malls in between teaching my Course on COSMIC MAGIC. It turned out to be an amazingly magical week!

46 FENGSHUIWORLD | JULY/AUGUST 2011

ne of the nicest things about my life these days is travelling around the world, going to wonderful

towns and cities giving FENG SHUI courses and connecting with my students from around the world. It is a part of my work that I enjoy very much because I am always incredibly lucky to attract amazingly sweet and very big-hearted students who come from many countries. Tey come from all over the world

and it almost does not matter where I hold my week long programs. I can be in Tahiti or in Singapore or I can come to the USA to connect with my students and always I will see a mix of old friends and new faces and it takes only a day for a special kind of magic to settle over us for we start to interact like we have known each other for years. Many eventually become dear friends of mine. This time around we are in

SANTA CLARA valley about 45 minutes drive from San Francisco, right next door to Palo Alto where the sprawling STANFORD UNIVERSITY CAMPUS beckons. There is something very alluring about University towns but this one is especially enticing - perhaps there is something about its feng shui. Te main road of the town is lined with a row of trees each brightly lit with leds - light emitting diodes. On both sides of the road are restaurants and eating places that take me back more than 30 years to a time when I lived in another University town in the USA - then in Cambridge, on the other side of the Charles river in Boston. Here at weekend evenings I would walk to Harvard Square with fellow students and immerse myself in the magic of the place. So last month in Palo Alto, I indulged my love of Mamma Mia food, digging in to the amazing pastas and parma hams of the Italian restaurants here. And then of course there is that most amazing Cheesecake Factory - an American style restaurant where you cannot make a reservation; where you have
