How often do you visit a Transylvanian Castle?
Especially one with a connection to the real-life model for Dracula? In case you wondered if there really is a Transylvania – a mysterious land so often identified in the popular imagination with vampires and gothic horror stories – it not only exists (in the Carpathian Mountains of central Romania), but we’ll take you there. You can choose to visit Bran Castle, used as a fortress by the 15th-century Romanian prince, Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), said to have inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula... or the remote monastery, set on a tiny island in a Romanian lake, where the infamous Vlad’s remains are believed to be buried.
“
I had not heard of Tauck until an old school mate invited me to
join her on your Budapest to Black Sea cruise. I was most impressed with everything arranged on the tour. Our Tauck Directors were very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, as were the local guides and drivers. And the days aboard the riverboat were very enjoyable indeed.
