Dependable disposables

Tomorrow’s Cleaning spoke to Jonathan Hooper, Marketing Manager at Connect Hygiene Products Ltd. who stresses the true importance of paper disposables when it comes to hand hygiene.

problems as recently seen in other parts of the world), industry leading customer service and competitive prices - essential hygiene!

For those situations where hygiene is THE critical factor, where an individual’s daily usage is high, then the Leonardo range will be the preferred choice. High quality dispensers tailored to meet a range of situations featuring dual use tissues and touchless dispensers as well as manually operated versions.

Maybe it’s just the word “disposables” that seems to denigrate the importance of their contribution to an effective hygiene regime. So much so that any factor other than price is largely ignored. No, this isn’t a plea for better margins for manufacturers such as Connect, (though it would be nice!), it is about recognising the contribution that paper disposables do make and why greater consideration, as to which is the most appropriate product and delivery system, is sound business sense.

Firstly, imagine life without them. Horrible isn’t it? Wet cloths all over the place, needing to be constantly monitored. How do you know when they are they dirty enough to need replacing and how is that done? How do you dispose them or wash them? Fresh clean linen towels are reduced to a limp and unhygienic ribbon of contamination before mid-morning. Noisy, time consuming hand dryers that no one ever uses properly. Okay, not exactly the stuff of

“dark, satanic mills” but not something any right-thinking employer or employee is likely to put their collective hands up for were they given the choice.

Thorough hand drying is an essential part of all hygiene control strategies, be it hospitals, schools or businesses, and paper disposables make it easier to implement. But not all situations require the same solutions. Once the base premise of paper disposables being the most hygienic is accepted, then other criteria come into play. And yes, price is an issue. For everyday wiping and drying the Connect Essentials range is ideal. Here there is no frequent individual usage, no top end hygiene requirement, so cost, reliable supply and customer service are key factors in decision making. Oh and if it helps, and it does, most of the Essentials range is made from 100% recycled paper.

So - environmentally friendly, manufactured in the UK (thus giving a reduced risk of supply
