Champaign County CVB makes move to downtown | Champaign, IL
Atkinson Monument building in downtown Champaign is the new home for the Champaign County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). Jayne DeLuce, Champaign County CVB President said the bureau moved to an architecturally signifi cant building in downtown Champaign, where it can serve “as a true welcome center.”
Mike DeLorenzo, Chairman of the CVB Board of Directors, stated, “The new centrally located
offi ce space and future home of the Champaign County Welcome Center will allow the CVB to better serve our stakeholders and will provide an extremely visible location that invites the residents of Champaign County to engage and interact with visitors.” The bureau will occupy the fi rst fl oor of the building as well as the front portion where the CVB would like to place a library of community resources and information kiosk. A conference room accommodating up to 25 guests will also be available in the building. Along with the Champaign County CVBs downtown center, the bureau has a tourism information center at Champaign’s Market Place Shopping Center, Illinois Terminal, Lincoln Square in Urbana and Willard Airport Savoy.

Two Cleveland forces combine, including the city’s CVB | Cleveland, OH
Positively Cleveland, the city’s CVB, and the Greater Cleveland
Sports Commission have teamed up under the direction of a single President and Chief Executive Offi cer. Sports Commission CEO David Gilbert took offi ce in January to
oversee the two properties, which will continue to operate separately, but work together. The sports commission promotes amateur sporting events and activities, while the CVB targets those events as part of its marketing plan. Both parties will maintain separate staffs, boards and fi nances, but will share offi ce space. “With a new convention center, casino and aquarium, among
many other tourism-related development projects, the industry in Cleveland is ready to contribute more to economic development than ever before,” said David Gilbert. “Positively Cleveland is meeting that challenge with internal culture changes that will lead to more innova- tion and energy and a greater focus on service.”
