SmartOne® Mini Double

Following the success of their innovative SmartOne®

Professional® with the launch of the SmartOne®

toilet roll dispenser, the Lotus brand has added to its range

mini range.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity of trialling one of the systems from the mini range – the mini double dispenser.

The SmartOne® mini double dispenser

claims to be ideal for high-traffic washrooms, due to its high capacity and stub roll, so it need never run out.

First impressions Opening the box (admittedly quite excitedly) my first impressions were positive. The sleek design of the product was both aesthetically and practically pleasing. The smooth contours mean that the dispenser is easy to wipe down and clean, with minimal places for dirt and bacteria to hide or build up. The curved appearance means that if a user should knock or brush past the unit, scrapes and bumps from sharp edges are avoided.

Embracing the mid-blue and white tones, synonymous with Lotus Professional® the existing SmartOne®

and range, the unit blends

seamlessly with most washrooms; the blue offering that fresh and clean association.

Assembly The dispenser, which comes with a dual feed, is relatively easily to load, using the SmartOne®

stub roll with SmartCore™

appreciate. There is no need to tear the core, the tail is ready to grab, simply pull the core upwards and it will come straight out with low pull force required. Once extracted, you simply twist the core and pull through the dispenser.

Positioning A positive point to consider is the ability to position the dispenser in a range of ways, enabling the facility manager to maximise on space. Not only is the dispenser more compact than its larger counterpart, but it can be mounted both, horizontally, vertically or diagonally – handy for toilet cubicles where space is lacking.

Use The SmartOne® range boasts “single sheet dispensing,” whereby the user only takes one single sheet two-ply tissue at a time, “considerably reducing paper consumption.”

According to internal statistics, conducted in European countries on 7,729 users (using a standard Lotus Professional® against SmartOne®

maxi Jumbo mini double) controlled

single-sheet dispensing helps reduce tissue consumption by up to 40% (accounted in square metre used.)

Upon testing the dispenser, we found that the first few sheets did tear, but this appears

to be from the tightly wound stub roll. As the roll loosened, the sheets were much easier to remove; with a sheet dispensed each and every time with the next sheet presented, ready for the next user.

The completely enclosed unit, accessed via lock and key, eliminates the risk of pilferage and also prevents the risk of unwanted items being placed inside. Upon research of the product, I also found a very interesting video, putting the robust, shock-resistant polycarbonate shells to the test – CLICK HERE - well worth a watch! The design also means prevents cross-contamination, with the roll completely contained and the only tissue being used is the one touched by the end user.

Verdict The SmartOne®

mini double toilet roll

dispenser fulfils a great need and reduces paper waste to a minimum. Despite being a little tough to use at the beginning, as with many dispensers, the roll loosens up over use and successfully presents single-sheet dispensing in a stylish and practical format.
