Jota Sport is the racing arm of parent company, Jota Group, that fields teams and manages the racing activities of major car manufactures and official partners. Currently Jota Sport represents Mazda, with its UK-based MX-5 racing programme, and Aston Martin in its guise as an Official Partner Team.
Since 2000, Jota-prepared racing cars have competed four times at Le Mans and taken podiums across five seasons of the Le Mans Series as well as in several
American Le Mans Series events. No fewer than four ex-Formula One drivers and three Le Mans winners have driven for Jota, in cars which have carried the brands of more than a hundred valued corporate partners.
In 2010 Mazda UK commissioned Jota Sport to take the brand back to the track with a brace of MX-5 racing cars. The idea was to evaluate the level of meaningful media coverage that could be generated from motorsport activity.
Six motoring and lifestyle journalists competed in the MX-5‘s at two highly prominent endurance races at Silverstone and Snetterton. The result was that 52 print media publications and 14 internet publications carried the story.
On the back of this resoundingly successful case study, Mazda commissioned Jota Sport to design, build and prepare a highly modified version of the MX-5 which will be competing in the 2011 Britcar Dunlop Production GTN Championship.
