11. Cut out several flowers of varying sizes from purple fabric and layer them, smallest to largest, with a brad in the center. Adhere the flower to the front of the lantern.

12. Place a battery operated candle inside the lantern on top of the trapdoor. Tie bits of ribbon and fabric to the wire handle.
Using spray paint is a great way to add texture and a metallic look to the outside of your lantern. And when cutting thin posterboard, you don’t need to use a deep blade – a regular depth one will work just fine!
