R. Thomas Weimer ’71/72 R SENIOR ADVISOR, DAWSON & ASSOCIATES, INC.


Thomas Weimer is a senior advisor at Dawson and Associates, experts in water resources, natural resources management and environmental permit- ting. Weimer’s federal career includes more than 20 years of legislative and executive branch expe- rience with a focus on energy, natural resources, and science and technology. From 2007 to 2009, he was minority staff director of the U.S. House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. From 2005 to 2007, Weimer was the assistant secretary for policy, management and budget at the U.S. Interior Department, where he was responsible for financial, budget and policy is- sues spanning the Interior’s eight bureaus. He led the department’s development of a manual to ad- dress adaptive management of climate change on the Interior’s lands and waters. He also served as the Interior Department’s principal deputy assistant secretary and acting assistant secretary for water and science. Weimer holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering and an M.E.E. (electrical engineering) degree from the University of Washington, Seattle.
