pring is a time of new beginnings, a time for new growth, and a time for nature to show its splendor, and I can’t help notice how spring relates so well

to my new beginnings as Publisher and Owner of the Natural Awakenings Magazine in Northwest Florida. I became involved with Natural Awakenings

when I moved back to Florida over five years ago be- cause I had the passion to help others find healthy posi- tive solutions to living a better more balanced life. Help- ing expand the magazine along the Northwest Florida coast, I knew I loved the magazine, its message, and its readers. What I didn’t know at the time was how my life would be changed in helping to expand the awareness.

My desire to become the publisher and owner is infused with my own continued growth and personal development, which I have experienced while helping others. I am inspired when readers express their love for the magazine and how it has had a direct impact on their lives. So what else is new this month? Well it just so happens that Melanie, previous

owner and great leader, had already scheduled April as the month to introduce our inaugural Health and Wellness Guide. This new edition gave me the opportunity to thoroughly introduce readers to some of the most outstanding, experienced, and educated practitioners in our Northwest Florida area. As I learned in-depth about these practices and services, I was further gratified to see the scope of resources available in our area: resources that truly allow our community to take action to- ward finding solutions for many of life’s challenges; resources that allow us to take control of our own health. As we celebrate Earth Day, our focus this month is on Green Homes & Gar- dens, and this issue beams with bright, sunny ideas and methods to protect and improve our planet. If any good were to come from the recent radiation scare in Japan and our own recent Gulf oil spill, it would be in the form of a reminder that as a community we should continue to seek and take action towards creating a healthier planet. Individually we can take everyday measures to conserve and live simply.

A special thanks goes to our loyal advertisers who make this free monthly publication possible and provide the resources and support we need to grow and expand the awareness. Thanks, too, to our loyal readers for your continued inter- est in improving your lives, the lives of others, and the lives of those yet to come.
