Big interest in small Solo

One of the brand new products creating considerable interest at this year’s Show was the Solo remote controlled micro dumper from Shannon Plant

Sales. Developed by British entrepreneurs Ryan Symes (pictured right) and Stuart Selway, the 825mm-wide rubber-tyred skid steer machine has a load capacity of 500kg. Its high-tip skip is mounted on a scissor mechanism giving a maximum discharge height of 1250mm to allow material to be tipped into de-mountable builders’ skips. The Solo weighs 400kg and can climb maximum gradients of 25°. The machine is

powered by a 16hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin petrol engine and has a Galtech pump and motors. The Swedish-made radio remote control unit has a range of 100m and allows the dumper to be used safely in hazardous areas such as demolition sites. As an alternative to the high-tip dumper skip, the Solo chassis will be offered with other equipment such as a sprayer, mower and post driver. Stuart Selway also told EHN he was very pleased with the number of creative suggestions made by Show visitors as to how the base unit could be converted for other tasks.

Altrad-Belle unveiled the Aluxis Junior, a lightweight aluminium mobile tower that has a folding base section for manoeuvrability. Components are designed to lock automatically on assembly and the platform deck measures 1.6 by 0.65m. Maximum working height is 4.8m and Belle believes that the product will appeal to tradesmen requiring a basic access solution that can be assembled quickly by one person, and that it could also prove a popular retail item. Also displayed were the latest additions to the range of Plettac Contur staircase systems, and the new BGA submersible pump that is powered by heavy-duty vibrating poker drive units. “This Show is very important as its serves our biggest market and it coincides with the start of the buying season after the winter slowdown,” said UK & Eire Sales Manager, Bob Williams. “We time our relevant product launches accordingly, as the first thing people always do when they come to an exhibition stand is to ask about what’s new.”
