Website Makeover


It’s a New Year and that means time for resolutions, changes and updates! With a New Year brings new possibilities, a new outlook and yep, a new look for your business’ online presence. If it’s been more than 3-5 years since you have updated your brand, it’s probably time for a facelift. And if it’s been more than 5 years since your website was updated, it’s definitely time to bring that website in from the dark!


As part of an ongoing-series, we will be reviewing industry websites and discussing tips and tricks for improving sites, search engine ranking and building your brand.


For this inaugural issue, the first site we will be reviewing is a website we created for our other business: Astrid and Rene Photography.


First up: The original site, launched three years ago.

Design The concept for design for the website: simple really is best. Design should always support the main content, support the product and support the service. Good design does not and should not compete with the site’s message or product. So for this site, we wanted a design that spoke to our target audience while still keeping the focus on the artwork.


Search Engine Ranking What good is a website if no one can find it? Careful attention to written content, programming and careful selection of keywords were taken into account to obtain a first-page rank using the selected keywords. It’s important that an accurate list of keywords be generated prior to creating content so that content supports the chosen keywords.


After multiple pow-wow sessions, the original site was launched with the following considerations and goals in mind:
