We put a call out to all wedding cake designers - Show us what you got! In honor of our January cover Interview with Sylvia Weinstock we launched the search for THE ULTIMATE WEDDING CAKE of 2010!


We received some amazing designs and it was a tough decision. Our category winners and the four finalists were selected by our editorial staff, with the overall winning design chosen from the finalists by none other than Sylvia Weinstock herself! The winning design re- ceived an autographed copy of both of Sylvia Weinstock’s books and a profile right here in WED. Oh, and bragging rights, of course! And the Winner is . . .


This “Cinderella” design was created by Dana Herbert, Perfect for a princess on her Big Day.


Although not a fan of fondant, Sylvia Weinstock did feel the design and techniques used reflected some great work and picked it as her favorite from our finalists.


In the same week as our announcement, Chef Herbert was revealed as the winner on Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker on January 24. As part of his prize, he’ll work at Carlo’s Bakery with the Cake Boss Buddy Valastro and crew.
