Under the Influence:

WedBiz Journal took a look at the top tweeters and Facebookers and put together a list of who currently has the most social media influence in the industry.

How we did it (methodology): First we looked atWeFollow and got a list of the most influential for the keywords wedding and weddings. This was just a start—we added companies and blogs we knew should be on this list but maybe don’t use enough #wedding in their tweets. We then got Klout scores for our list. Then we looked at Twitter stats—number of followers, number of tweets, how many lists they appear on. Finally, we reviewed Facebook presence—either pages or profiles— for our list. We put it all together and came up with our Top 10. Disagree with our list? Think we missed someone? Join the discussion on our WedBiz Journal Facebook page or on our blog. We’d love to hear from you!

First, we looked at the magazines and blogs that are influencing Nearlyweds. All on our list have a few things in common: More than 10,000 followers on Twitter, a Facebook page with more than 3500 fans, and a Klout score of 55 or higher. They also appear on at least 500 Twitter lists and have sent out over 2500 tweets. Think we missed someone? Be sure they met all criteria—then post your suggestion in our WedBiz Journal Facebook page discussion or tweet your thoughts with hashtag #wedbiz.

The sheer numbers made this an easy #1— over 34,000 followers on twitter and 80k+ fans on Facebook—no one else even comes close. And this doesn’t include regional off- shoots. Amazing.

With a Klout score of 60 and over 4700 tweets, Wedding Wire comes in at #3. They also boast over 21k followers and over 15k fans with their own Facebook App.

With a Klout score of 61 and almost 12k fans on Facebook, Get Married just nudged out #6 to make it to the #5 spot. They also boast over 18k followers, over 3300 tweets and can be found on over 750 Twitter lists.

With over 17k followers and 5900+ fans, Project Wedding is certainly on the move. Their active tweeting (over 4800 tweets) has brought their Klout score to an impressive 63 – one point higher than The Knot.

Our #9 pick comes from the fabulous blog Green Wedding Shoes. With almost 12k fol- lowers and over 7800 fans on Facebook, Green Wedding Shoes has a strong following and they like to retweet!

We know some may disagree with our #2 choice but numbers don’t lie—over 26k fol- lowers and over 32k fans on Facebook. AND their own social network (Style Circle). Add in their new connection with Google = #2.

The combination of Facebook fans—over 27k and followers—over 15k—brings Brides to our #4 spot. But it’s also the quantity and QUALITY of content—over 7000 tweets in- cluding from Aisle Say (blog) which we love!

Although impressive with over 18k followers and over 4000 Facebook fans, it doesn’t even touch Martha Stewart’s own Twitter account of over 2.2 million followers— but we’re just looking at weddings here.

OneWed has been making their mark with over 13k followers and almost 5000 Face- book fans. Most impressive is their over 5100 tweets, showing their commitment to keeping their followers informed.

Timing is everything for our #10 pick—Broke Ass Bride. This blog took hold during the recession and has a strong following of over 11k on twitter, 3500+ on Facebook and their own social network. And we love the logo!
