Ronald McDonald House Student-Athlete of the Week


Senior guard Nolan Smith earned this week’s Ronald Mc- Donald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to wins over UNC Greens- boro and Miami. In the two games, Smith averaged 27.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 63.0 percent (17-of-27) from the field and 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from three-point range. He also had a 7.0:1 assist-to-turnover ratio for the week. Against UNC Greensboro, Smith tallied 26 points, five rebounds and nine assists with zero turnovers. In Duke’s ACC opener against Miami, Smith scored a season-high 28 points and finished with five assists and five rebounds. Duke is now 13-0 on the season and will host UAB at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke-UAB Series History


Duke is 2-0 all-time against UAB with both wins coming at neutral sites. The Blue Devils posted a 76-62 win over UAB


on Dec. 28, 1984 in the Trojan Bud Light Classic in Los Angeles. Duke also topped UAB, 66-54, in the second


round of the 1985 Preseason Big Apple NIT in Hous- ton, Texas.


Numbers Game Duke has won 23 consecutive games dating


back to a 79-72 loss at Maryland on March 3, 2010. Duke has won 31 of its last 32 games. The Blue Devils have won an NCAA-best 84 consecutive non-conference home games. The last home loss against a non-conference op- ponent for the Blue Devils was on Feb. 26, 2000,

Duke Hosts UAB Tonight from Cameron Indoor Stadium


against St. John’s, 83-82. Duke has won 39 consecutive games against


teams outside the traditional power conferences (Big Ten, Big East, SEC, ACC, PAC 10, Big 12). Vir- ginia Commonwealth’s 79-77 win over Duke in the 2007 NCAA Tournament was the Blue Devils’ last loss to a team from a non-power conference. Duke has only lost two home games in the past


four seasons, posting a record of 56-2 in Cameron Indoor Stadium during that span. The Blue Devils currently have a 27-game win streak at home. Duke has won 49 straight home games against


unranked opponents. The Blue Devils’ last loss at Cameron Indoor Stadium to an unranked opponent was to Florida State on Feb. 4, 2007. Kyle Singler is five points shy of becoming the


11th player in Duke history to score 2,000 or more points. He would also become just the sixth Blue Devil with 2,000 points and 800 rebounds in a ca- reer.
