Faculty & Instructors
Dr. Pam Kohlbry has been an educator of nurses for over 20 years. Her expertise is in critical care, chronic illness and nursing education. Her research focuses on Hispanic and Latino women, health promotion, and physical activity. She is co-leading an international research project. Her international work focuses on educating nurses in Indonesia and taking students to Mexico for health promotion and clinical courses in the area of medical- surgical nursing and nursing leadership and management. She currently teaches medical-surgical nursing, pathophysiology and pharmacology, nursing leadership and management, and health promotion and patient teaching strategies for undergraduate students. She is leading an initiative to bring a Sigma Theta Tau chapter to California State University San Marcos School of Nursing. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Zeta Mu Chapter.
Dr. Terry Larsen has been in the healthcare field for over 31 years as a registered nurse with nursing experience in the Operating Room, Pediatrics, Medical Surgery, Coronary Care, Surgical and Medical Intensive Care and Emergency Room. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Public Health Nursing, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult and Aging from Loma Linda University. Currently Terry is enrolled in a Ph.D. program at University of San Diego and plans to graduate Spring 2010. She has taught nursing ADN courses at Mt. San Jacinto Community College, CNS courses at USD, and for the last two years has been teaching students in the generic nursing (BSN) and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) programs at both the Temecula and San Marcos School of Nursing sites.
Dr. Nancy Romig brings over 20 year of teaching experience to nursing education. She is currently teaching psychiatric and mental health nursing, coordinating a nurse internship program, and a community health clinical experience. Her clinical expertise is in the area of psychiatric and mental health nursing in acute care and community setting. Her research interests are alternative and complimentary interventions in the treatment of depression in women across the life span and in the area of physical and mental chronic illness. Past research has focused on violence and Latino women. Her area of expertise in research methodology is qualitative and grounded theory. She has served as a member on a number of master’s thesis committees. She currently has a part time private practice in psychotherapy. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Gamma Gamma Chapter.
Operations Resource Management
Bob Lane is President of Lane & Associates, a consulting services company that specialized in Lean Operations, Project Management and Supply chain optimization. He has more than 20 years of experience applying Lean principles at Sony, Textron, Litton Automated Systems and Nexiant. He is a certified APICS instructor and teaches Supply Chain and Lean Operations principles to business professionals.
Pat Lupica is a Ph.D. candidate at the International School of Management in Paris France, and holds a Masters in Supply Chain Management (SCM) from the University of San Diego (USD). He teaching Supply Chain and Operations Management at various universities and is a contract SCM subject matter expert for John Wiley & Sons Publishing.
Geoff Green, CPIM, is Supply Chain Director for NuVasive Inc. where he is responsible for Master Planning, Production Scheduling, Purchasing, Contract Manufacturing and Inventory Management.
Kaye Cee McKay, CFPIM, CSCP, has over 20 years experience in Operations Management in a variety of industries. She is a Qualified APICS Instructor (QI), has taught at many Fortune 500 companies and is a frequent speaker at the APICS International Conference. She is currently the Logistics Management Specialist for Gen-Probe, Inc.
Science and Biotechnology
Harry E. Brakebill, Distinguished Professor 2008/09 - Assistant Professor of Operations Management at the University of Massachusetts at Boston (1988-1989) and California State University at Fullerton (1989-1992). Has published in leading Journals in Operations research and Mathematical Programming Research.
Sajith Jayasinghe, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of California Irvine, 1999-1 and the University of Southern California School of Medicine, 2000-5; Ph.D. University of Virginia, 1998; B.S. Ohio Wesleyan University, 1993. Professor Jayasinghe’s research interests are polypeptide-membrane interactions and elucidating the molecular details of protein misfolding diseases.
Bianca R. Mothé, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences, Ph.D. Molecular and Cellular Pathology 2002: University of Wisconsin- Madison. Dr. Mothé started her appointment at CSUSM in Fall 2003. Dr. Mothé conducted her postdoctoral work at Epimmune, Inc in San Diego, CA. Her areas of specialization are immunology and virology, with research interests in designing novel vaccines for rapidly mutating viruses, including HIV and SIV.
Betsy A. Read, Professor of Biological Sciences, Ed.D. Biology 1989: Ball State University. Prior to appointment at CSUSM in Fall 1993, Dr. Read worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Microbiology Department at The Ohio State University. Dr. Read’s area of specialization is Molecular Cell Biology. Her general research interests lie in plant molecular biology and she is currently working on the structure and function of ribulose-1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase.
Teacher Education
Dr. Katherine Hayden earned her doctorate in Educational Technology at Pepperdine University. She is currently an associate professor in the College of Education at California State University San Marcos. Her area of expertise involves technology as an integrated part of the educational environment and her research has focused on development of online communities and the use of videoconferencing in educational settings. She has worked as a classroom teacher, technology mentor teacher, consultant and technology specialist at the district, state, and national level to support the use of technology to support student needs targeting content standards. As Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction for the ILAST (Improving Learning for All Students through Technology) Partnership, she worked with districts to provide professional development for teachers in K-12 education. Dr. Hayden currently is Coordinator for the Masters in Education General Option and Director for two National Science Foundation projects implementing innovative technology in middle school science classrooms.
