This exciting NEW course is designed to teach advanced and specialized approaches to utilize the legal resources available in a law library, and elsewhere. The conceptual differences between computer-assisted legal research and hard copy research will be taught. You will also learn how to formulate WESTLAW search queries and effectively and efficiently use WESTLAW and other online legal research methods as time- saving devices in legal research and legal writing.

Legal Nurse Consultant Training


This exciting program prepares Registered Nurses and Physician’s Assistants for a career in the legal field as legal nurse consultants. Building on the medical education and clinical experience of RNs and PAs, this course provides the RN and PA with fundamental skills necessary to advise law firms, health care providers, insurance companies, and governmental agencies regarding medically-related issues and to appear in court as expert witnesses. SPECIAL NOTES: The purpose of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Added Authorization (ASD AA) is to respond to the need for special educators who are not yet authorized to teach students with ASD to obtain this authorization. Given the increasing number of students eligible for special education in the ASD disability category, the College of Education, in partnership with Extended Learning, is pleased to offer a streamlined, partially-online ASD AA of six units of study to assist special educators in the region to be fully authorized to serve their students with ASD. Together, the two courses examine characteristics, assessments, instruction, and diverse supports (inclusive of AAC and other technological supports) for students with ASD and directly meet the new ASD AA standards. BIOL 176 (Anatomy & Physiology II) The second in a two course series designed to introduce the principles of human anatomy and physiology for students in health and human services, including Kinesiology and Nursing. Taught from a systems perspective where students will learn basic physiological principles and mechanisms along with their associated anatomical basis. Material includes nervous system and the senses, and the endocrine, reproductive, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Added Authorization


have the opportunity to share and learn from one another their successes in supporting students on the autism spectrum. Participants in CSUSM’s ASD AA program must hold a valid Preliminary or Clear California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist, a Learning Handicapped credential, or be eligible for the preliminary credential prior to recommendation for the ASD Added Authorization. The CSUSM’s ASD AA program courses are offered each semester and may be taken in the same or different semesters. The ASD AA courses may be considered part of the coursework for completing the Clear Education Specialist program or part of a Master of Arts in Education at CSUSM. To determine whether you have already completed the ASD AA coursework you simply need to complete the process for granting the ASD AA (see www.csusm.edu/el) and contact the College of Education’s Student Services Center.


Contemporary Professional Issues: Research and Best Practice Seminar – Autism Spectrum Disorder (EDEX 636_EX )


Examines current issues, concepts, and emerging best practices and research findings related to the education of learners with mild, moderate, and severe disabilities and other dimensions of language and learning differences and, in particular, individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
