would be the fi xed-sight Model 58, in .41 magnum, a gun truly placed in the wrong space in time in the galaxy. In fairness, even though not 40+ caliber, the Model 27, in .357 magnum, of the “Registered Mag- num” fame is a very trick gun, heavy framed shoving the potent .357 mag- num in a great variety of loads rang- ing from the light loads for practice to, and including, heavy serious barn burners. Dangerous may be an over state-
ment, but you pick a word for a Scandium 2" barrel .44 magnum with full-house loads like CorBon DPX, and I’ll go with your word for
the stunning and uncomfort-
able shooting that will follow. I am guarded about these space-age ma- terial guns, as they are lightweight but that said in regard to carry, they also have heavy recoil for all but the most insane of shooters. The 2" guns regardless of caliber, yes I in- clude .357, are punishing to the gun and even more so to the shooter — so be careful about what you ask for and buy to carry. people is the revolver is slow to load … in their opinion … and maybe in reality. Starting with loose rounds and old box-type carriers, the wheelie was only as slow as the per- son who was willing to practice up to skill wise. Incidents like Newhall showed flaws in loading tools, tech- niques and even training — casting no negative aspersions on the of- ficer who died there. The first ad- vance to control the cartridges was the Speed Strip. Inserted inside the leather boxes, it at least had the car- tridges come clear of the box when extracted. The speed loader, the round version, was next and, stun- ningly, was not accepted that well in the introduction. When I started as a cop, our

Sheriff would not allow the load- ers, as the boxes “looked” ugly? So we carried loop loaders that are as old, technology wise, as the damn box. But, we all looked uniform. As a note, even left-handed guys had
