NAA and Corbon team up to make a formidable pocket companion.
on the right side of the pistol there is a take-down button. You don’t need any tools to disassemble the Guard- ian;
just pull the slide backward,
push the take-down button and lift the slide off the frame. The slide and frame are machined
from 17-4 PH stainless steel. This alloy is known for its high strength and moderate resistance to corro- sion. It’s used extensively in the air- craft industry. One unique feature of the Guardian is it has no ejector. There is a slide-mounted extractor but spent cases are ejected from the pistol by the upward force of the magazine spring. There is also no slide-lock, so the slide doesn’t stay back after the last round has been fired. The pistol comes with very low-profile front and rear sights that are integral to the slide. Other sight options are available through the custom shop. The Guardian is a double-action-
only pistol and the trigger pull is long and heavy. How heavy? I’m not sure. NAA says the Guardian has a trigger pull of 10 lbs. My Tim- ney Triggers trigger-pull gauge tops out at 10 lbs and it was maxed out. I’m guessing it took about 13 lbs of pressure to pull the trigger. I had initially thought this pistol might be a good option for my wife because of its diminutive size, but she didn’t
have the hand strength to pull the trigger six times consecutively.
Feel, Fit And Finish The Guardian gives the impres-
sion of a ruggedly designed, well- put together pistol. As far as pis- tols go, it’s light but not incredibly so. It weighs about twice as much as the polymer-framed Ruger LCP. The Guardian does feel solid and well made. The slide operation and trigger pull are stiff, but smooth, and without any grit or grinding. The pistol also feels comfortable in hand. It’s a small handgun and while it was never an issue during the firing of almost 200 rounds, I was afraid the web of my hand would ride up the minimal tang to the point I might get a bit of rail bite as the slide cycled. NAA supplied two sets of after-
market grips: Crimson Trace laser grips and smooth cocobolo wood grips laminated to a polymer back- ing. Both were not only easy to in- stall with one screw per side, but both also improved the feel of the gun in hand, especially the wood grips, which also looked quite strik- ing on the little pistol.
Bang, Bang, Bang! Let me say up front that I didn’t
conduct the usual benchrest accuracy
The NAA Guardian has a slide- mounted extractor, but the pistol does not have an ejector. Spent cases are forced from the pistol by the upward pressure of the magazine spring.
