standard MS 441, which is claimed to halve

emissions compared with a conventional two-stroke engine, and to reduce fuel consumption by 20%.

Husqvarna sponsored the 2010 World Poleclimbing Championship.

New from Husqvarna UK is the T540 XP professional top-handle chainsaw, designed for tasks like pruning, power line clearing and aerial tree care work. It incorporates a lightweight chain bar that is claimed to weigh 20% less than a conventional

equivalent, and has the manufacturer’s AutoTune facility, designed to automatically adjust the carburettor for optimum engine performance. Husqvarna also sponsored the 2010 World Poleclimbing Championship, which was held opposite its stand at the Show.

Mini excavator attachments

Amongst exhibitors on the demo circuit at the Show was Westquay Trading, which recently announced that it has been appointed as the exclusive distributor for the FAE and Prima Tech ranges of forestry and grounds care machinery and attachments.Westquay is also a Takeuchi main dealer, and displayed an FAE PML/HY 190 mulching head implement mounted on a 2600kg TB23R mini excavator.

Digbits unveiled its BAV CB3 crusher bucket.

The implement can be fitted to minis of 2.5 to 3.5 tonne, and other versions are available for machines of 1.5

tonne upwards. Swing hammers or Y-shaped knives can be fitted, enabling a mini to undertake tasks ranging from clearing undergrowth and tree stumps, to cutting thick grass or bushes.

Another attachment specialist, Digbits, gave the first public viewing of its new BAV CB3 crusher bucket. “Post-credit crunch, some contractors are cautious about investing in a dedicated tracked

crushing machine, so we decided to develop this attachment for mini excavators,” said Director, Marcus Clay. “This implement extends the versatility of a very popular type of machine, and on many sites there is a physical limit on the amount of kit you can operate, especially in cramped urban locations. The BAV CB3 fits machines of 3 tonne upwards, and we already have the CAD drawings on our computers for larger models.”

Engcon’s Tiltrotators increase the versatility of excavators.

Engcon demonstrated its Tiltrotators, which are available for excavators of 1.5 to 32 tonne. Incorporating double-acting tilt cylinders, they enable unlimited rotation and tilting of up to 40° in two directions, extending the machine’s versatility by facilitating offset digging and work on slopes. A variety of attachments can be fitted, such as soil compactors, grading buckets, tarmac cutters and deep excavation buckets. The demonstration machines were operated by Kevin Russell, Director of Grantham-based KRW Plant Hire, who told EHN that, by increasing the capabilities of a machine, a Tiltrotator can enable hirers to charge better rates, and customers can complete jobs faster.

Striking craftsmanship was displayed in the European Chainsaw Carving Championship, held during the Show.
