The President’s Report

News from the ITCA Board

STEPHEN WHITE ITCA president

Continuing on with my promise to keep you all informed regarding the changes being made to your Association, I would like to let you know what was agreed at our latest Board Meeting held on September 23 in London:

ITCA/IFSA The Board was able to discuss the meeting that took place between myself and the IFSA president in July. I explained that we had agreed to form a steering group that would look into the possibilities of both ITCA and IFSA working closer together. We had agreed the ‘Terms of Reference’ that the steering group would need to work to and that it had been agreed to nominate two members from each Board to achieve this. The Board members needed to live relatively close to each other as communication was very important with only a four month window to work to and a limited budget. The ITCA Board unanimously voted for Kevin

Cox and Martyn Jelley. Kevin and Martyn will report back to myself at the end of January and will report to the Board at the next full Board meeting which will take place at the Nice Trade Show and Networking Forum in February. I am confident that the steering group we have assembled between both Associations will do a good job and if any members are called on or asked for their opinions, I would appreciate your help. We are doing this for you, our members – your opinions count!

New Members October will be a busy month for Association Services – the company that manages the day to day running of ITCA. A new flyer was presented to the Board and this will be sent to a huge targeted audience of some 11000 (eleven thousand) companies that we have identified as possible new European members. The flyer is also being mailed with this issue of Onboard Hospitality and several other publications. This is the largest marketing exercise ever undertaken by ITCA and I hope that a significant number of new companies join us in Nice.

Website The Board discussed the proposals that we have had drawn up for the ITCA website. It was agreed to phase the changes in and what phases were a priority. A time line will be drawn up and will be issued

as soon as I have it. With so much happening and so many changes being made I am conscious that I do not want to waste money on making changes

to the website before I am certain that those changes will or are happening.

Operators A letter from myself to all senior managers within the Travel Catering World will also be sent out by Association Services in October. This letter is designed to inform them about the merits of attending ITCA themselves or sending their teams. I hope that this will boost Operator attendance at the Nice Trade Show and highlight to Senior Executives how important choice is when making budgetary decisions.

The Emergency Fund The winding down of the ITCA Trust is now near completion and the transfer of the moneys and investments to ITCA’s control is taking place. This will now be called the ‘ITCA working capital and emergency fund’.

The Memorandum And Articles Of Association The ITCA Association and the way it works is governed by the ‘ Memorandum and Articles of Association’. It was unanimously agreed that these should be re-written to reflect the changing times. An announcement will be made regarding this at the Nice Tradeshow and Networking forum.

Dubai Trade Show I am happy to report that sales for the Dubai Trade show are up on last year and registered visitors are five times more than last year. For more information please contact Association Services. www.itcanet.com
