ALZAMAN CITY

A host of themed attractions are outlined as part of a brand new city planned near Dakhla in South Morocco

Alzaman is the vision of Sheikh Haytham Tala Salet al Nuaimi and his Swiss-based company Injaz Invest, which has partnered with the Vitala Group of London to finance and develop the $39-48 billion project. Already they have negotiated for the use of a 100 sq km piece of land from the Moroccan government, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and close to the Canary Islands.

Described as a “city of piece,” Alzaman will be divided into 16 districts, including multiple resorts, themed hotels, leisure parks, a botanic resort, residential areas, medical facilities and a university. The entire project is expected to create around 350,000-400,000 new residents, not to mention tourists and jobs.

Alzaman is the ancient Arabic word for “time” and the city's centrepiece will be an hour glass- shaped building called The Time, hosting an exhibition dedicated to mankind's many cultures and civilisations past and present. A monorail “time machine” will transport tourists back in time as they role-play in the character and period of their choice.

The project's developers are keen, however, that Alzaman will provide more than historical attractions, and hope to develop an area called Future City, where visitors can gain an insight into the sustainable architecture, technology and transport of tomorrow.

The Vitala Group will now work on extensive feasibility studies and financial reports
