Khan Shatyr

New leisure options in Kazakhstan

H

oused beneath the world's largest glass roof (150- metres-high), Khan Shatyr is a new retail and leisure destination in Kazakhstan that its developers promise offers “a new way of life.” Visitors can escape the country's extreme weather conditions (ranging from +/-30°C and beyond) inside this Foster and Partners- designed building opened in July to mark the 12th anniversary of the founding of Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city.

Inside the 10,000 square-metre

complex, guests can shop in multiple boutiques or eat and

drink in a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafes, As well as a waterpark, cinema, spa and gym, leisure options include a large entertainment area with rides and attractions by suppliers including the SBF, Moser and Heimo.

SBF made a particularly large contribution,

installing no fewer than seven

attractions, all of which opened on time. The selection includes a flume ride, monorail, 38-metre- high drop tower, flying bus, convoy toy ride, “Pop Ups” and a rocking ride called Crazy UFO.
